Admissions Process

The admissions process of Christian Heritage School of Longview is designed to ensure that, not only is a potential family and student a good match for CHS, but that CHS is also a good fit for the family. Our admissions philosophy is not designed to simply fill student seats, but to ensure that school, family and student all agree on basic fundamentals that will create the environment for a successful and positive educational experience for all involved.

Desk workThe process begins with you, as the prospective family, investigating who we are. We invite you to peruse our website, talk to current families, and research Classical Christian education. Once you feel that CHS is a place you would like to know more about, we invite you to register to attend an Admissions Informational Meeting (AIM).

AIMs are scheduled periodically, and more frequently during peak enrollment seasons. This is your first opportunity to view a formal presentation on CHS, meet our administrators, hear from students and tour the school facility. All families begin the admissions process by attending an AIM.  Please complete the New Student Inquiry form.  You will be contacted about the next scheduled Admissions Information Meeting.Grandparents Day

At the conclusion of your AIM tour, you will be offered an Admissions Packet. Once all portions of your admissions packet are received by CHS, you will be contacted to schedule testing for your student. After testing, you will be scheduled for a Family Interview with the Admissions Committee.

Before the Family Interview is conducted, parents are required to read DISCOVER Classical Christian Education--The Essential Guide for Parents.  A copy of this booklet is available from the school office. Parents are also encouraged to read Dorothy Sayer's essay The Lost Tools of Learning.

Kindergarten facesIf your student is entering the 6th grade or higher, he or she will be expected to attend the Family Interview along with the parents. The Family Interview is an excellent opportunity for you to have any remaining questions answered, as well as allow the Admissions Committee the opportunity to get to know you and your family better. After the Family Interview, the Admissions Committee will consider all components of the admissions process and make a decision regarding your application.

Finally, you will receive a letter notifying you of the committee’s decision and instructions to complete the application process if your student is admitted.
